Sunshine Coast Council’s free library service is available at eight branches two mobile libraries and online.
Membership at Sunshine Coast Libraries is free and open to everyone.
- Library members can borrow up to 50 items for three weeks.
- Items can be renewed twice, providing the item has not been requested by another customer.
- Reservations can be made on items and are held for collection for 10 days.
- Interlibrary loans are also available (charges may apply).
- Eight branches and two Mobile Library services.
- An information service, available online and at all branches.
- Free access to WiFi and Internet.

Visit a branch to join and receive a library card or join online.
Children under 16 will need a parent or guarantor to register as a member.
Using the library service
Members receive a library card and choose a password that provides access to online services. Remember to update the library if any changes are made to member contact details.
It is important to note that members are responsible for all items issued on their card. If a library card is lost or stolen report it immediately so that a ‘stop’ can be placed on the card to avoid its misuse.
Return or renew items by the due date. If an item is 28 days overdue, charges will be linked to your card and as soon as the item is returned those charges will be removed.
Items should be returned in reasonable condition. Members are liable for the actual cost to Sunshine Coast Libraries of damaged or lost items plus a $5 processing fee. Replacement items cannot be accepted as an alternative to paying the fee. No refund will be given if lost items are found.
Audiovisual items such as CDs, DVDs and audiobooks are used at the member’s own risk and Sunshine Coast Libraries is not responsible for any damage to computers or other equipment resulting from the use of these items.
An adult member must be a guarantor for the membership of a child under 16 and must sign the child’s library membership card. The guarantor is responsible for items borrowed on the card including the selection and care of items and use of the internet and library equipment. The guarantor is responsible for accuracy of contact details on the child’s membership.
