Wild heART Walk
Featuring outstanding artworks by 21 local school-aged children
Sunshine Coast Libraries, First 5 Forever and the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden have joined forces to introduce families and their little ones to the local environment and its inhabitants and encourage early and visual literacy through art.
Wild heART Walk features 21 outstanding artworks created by children and young people of the Sunshine Coast.
School-aged children were encouraged to spend time ‘in the field’ by visiting an environment that sparks their curiosity or fills them with wonder. Then capture the native plants, animals or fungi in an art piece as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s Wild heART Student Art Prize.
The finalists artworks and their student statements are now installed as an outdoor exhibition trail at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden. To find the Art Walk simply head to the Lagoon Walk and follow the art!
The exhibition will be on display for the entire summer holidays, from December 2024 to January 2025.
Wild heART Walk has been funded by First 5 Forever an initiative of the Queensland State Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
