Are you an aspiring or emerging Sunshine Coast writer looking to grow your craft? Have you ever dreamed of developing new work alongside an award‑winning author?
Sunshine Coast Libraries and Horizon Festival invite you to create stories of radical hope with award‑winning writer Peter Carnavas. Turn your visions of a hopeful future into texts that may provoke, inspire and reach new audiences.
Across two weekend sessions you will:
- Learn new skills and perspectives to deepen your writing practice
- Create a short work of fiction for a major Horizon Festival installation
- Work with professional voice talent to record your story
See your words become part of Horizon Festival 2026 in the immersive installation Radical Hope Machine 2.

About Peter Carnavas
Peter Carnavas writes and illustrates stories for children. He has created over twenty books, many of which have been shortlisted or won awards. His work has been translated into many languages across the world, and he has presented at many festivals and schools around Australia. Peter’s most recent novel, Leo and Ralph, was awarded an Australian Book Industry Award and the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Children’s Literature. Peter lives in the Sunshine Coast hinterland with his family. He divides his time between writing and working as a teacher-librarian.
