An exhibition featuring exquisite and delicate watercolours and pencil sketches of landscapes, buildings and people inspired by travel. From a Turkish marketer in a village market just outside Istanbul, to a hotel window view of a church in Sirimone on Lake Garda, Italy, the places and people portrayed in these artworks capture moments of memory, light, personality and beauty.

Artist biography
Michele Retschlag has a Diploma in Commercial Illustration from the Queensland College of Art and has worked as an illustrator in the Zoology Department at the University of Queensland. After discovering her art talent lay in the fine art field, she quickly establishing a reputation in the watercolour medium and was frequently invited to conduct art workshops, participate in exhibitions and judge art shows. Michele has had ten solo art exhibitions and has won multiple art awards including at the Royal Queensland Show. Aside from creating stunning watercolours, Michele also sketches as a means of capturing the places she has visited to cement the memories she’s experienced. She uses her sketches in private art workshops as a teaching tool to help students see how tonal, compositional arrangement and atmospheric changes may enhance a painting.
