Cryptids My Alter Ego

Cryptids are legendary creatures that appear in many cultures around the world, often described as hairy, humanlike figures. They are commonly referred to as the “Yowie” or “Yahoo” in Australia, “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch” in North America, and the “Yeti” or “Abominable Snowman” in the Himalayas. 

This exhibition showcases ceramic and sculptural works created by Year 9 Visual Art students from Maleny State High School. Each piece explores the concept of the cryptid while making a personal statement, revealing aspects of the students’ identities through the considered use of symbols, expressive features, texture, form, and colour.
