The state-of-the-art new district library and community space, known as Library+ Caloundra is nearing completion and will open its doors to the community on Monday, 22 September.  

From 10am be among the first to experience this inspiring new space. Opening day will be a vibrant celebration filled with family-friendly activities, including colourful face painting for the little ones, free library giveaways, music and a chance to explore.  

Discover everything this exciting new library has to offer. Explore the vibrant kids’ space, browse our latest collections, and connect with our specialist teams from programming, marketing, collections, young people’s services, and the heritage library. They’ll be on hand throughout the day to help you navigate the space and learn more about our services. 

Meanwhile, Council’s friendly project team will be stationed throughout the building to share insights and answer any specific questions about the Library+ Caloundra facility.

Library+ Caloundra is located at 1 Omrah Avenue. There is time-restricted parking available in the Nutley Street carpark, metered on street parking, and unrestricted parking nearby – be sure to check the signs before heading inside. After the official opening at 10.00am on Monday 22 September, the Caloundra Library open hours will be: 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8.30am–5.00pm 
Thursday:  8.30am–7.00pm 
Saturday: 9.00am–3.00pm 
Sunday: 9.00am–1.00pm 

Community will have access to a small portion of Library+ Caloundra from 7.00am to 8.00pm seven days a week (excluding public holidays).

Changes to expect at the current Caloundra Library

The current library will remain open to the public until Sunday 14 September. It will be closed for one week to facilitate the final transition to the new library. Some collections will continue to reduce or become temporarily unavailable between now and when the library closes.

During the seven day closure no services will be available at Caloundra Library. If you would like to visit a library from 15-20 September, you can head to the nearest branches at Beerwah or Kawana, or try our Mobile Library stops at Pelican Waters, Bellvista or Meridan Plains.  

All items on loan from Caloundra Library that fall due while the library is closed will have their due date extended so you can enjoy them a little longer. Any new reservations that arrive will be waiting for you at the new library on 22 September.
