Turning your food scraps into “black gold” fertiliser is cheap and possible even in the smallest of spaces, with a hands-on, practical workshop set to equip you for a new world of worms.

Simon Rixon from Maroochy Urban Farm will introduce you to the joys of small-space worm farming on May 18 in Maroochydore as part of the Living Lab @ The MET workshop series.

Living Lab @ The MET workshops are especially designed for people living in units, townhouses and apartments with balconies or courtyards available for small space, urban gardening.

Worm farms are a low-cost and efficient way to cycle nutrients from waste to feed small-space gardens.

Participants will get their hands dirty, learn tips and tricks to keep a worm farm functional and healthy.

You’ll even make your own tiny worm farm to take home.

A morning tea made from local produce is included, providing a great opportunity to mingle with fellow small-space gardeners.

Tickets are limited, so booking early is essential.

This event is held in partnership with Living Smart, a Sunshine Coast Council program encouraging and empowering the community on its sustainability journey.
