Teraniart

Inspired by the beauty of the Sunshine Coast | 1 May to 31 May | Caloundra Library

Art has always played an important role in Marley Polowyj-Stephen's life. It has allowed him to understand beauty and see it everywhere. Growing up in the Sunshine Coast, his life has been rich and colourful. His very earliest memories are of Booloumba Creek, Kondalilla Falls, the rolling green hills of Maleny, and stunning beaches from Caloundra to Cooloola.

The paintings in this exhibition are all acrylic on stretched canvas and each one draws on this local inspiration. From painting on the shores of Lake Cootharaba and Currumundi Creek in the early spring mornings to breathing in the natural mystic of the Maroochy Botanic Gardens and Mount Cooroora, each one is tied to this land in a very real and intimate way.

Some abstracted natural landscapes and others geometric motifs where the colours and shapes symbolise the vibe of certain places and music, some both – all are attuned to the natural and cultural beauty of the Sunshine Coast.
