Patrick Ness

Patrick has written fourteen books so far. In 2008, he published the first in his Chaos Walking trilogy for young adults, The Knife of Never Letting Go. It is set in a dystopian world where everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts. In 2009, the second book, The Ask and the Answer, was published closely followed by The third book, Monsters of Men, in 2010. Hint: if you haven’t read this series you need to!

Later books include A Monster Calls (2011), based on an idea by Siobhan Dowd, which won the Carnegie Medal in 2012 and was adapted into a film, More Than This (2013), The Rest of Us Just Live Here (2015), Release (2018), and The ocean was our sky (2018); and a novel for adults, The Crane Wife (2014). His latest title Burn, has just been released and is an all-consuming story of revenge, redemption and dragons.

He has won numerous awards, including the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, the Booktrust Teenage Prize, and the Costa Children’s Book Award.

Patrick Ness has taught Creative Writing at Oxford University, and written journalism and criticism for the Sunday Telegraph, the Daily Telegraph, and the Times Literary Supplement. Born in Virginia, he currently lives in London.
