John Green is the New York Times bestselling author of some of our absolute favourite titles including Looking for AlaskaAn Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars, and Turtles All the Way Down.

Fun facts

  • In 2006 John won the Printz Award for his debut novel, Looking for Alaska.
  • Upon leaving college intended on becoming an Episcopal priest. Instead he worked as a Student Chaplain in a children’s hospital.
  • He did not want to sell the movie rights to The Fault in our Stars as he did not want a movie made that he did not like for such a personal story. 
  • Culver Creek, the fictional Alabama boarding school that Green's characters attend in, Looking for Alaska, is based on the real Alabama boarding school, Indian Springs School, from which Green graduated in 1995.
  • Has a West Highland Terrier named Fireball Wilson Roberts, nicknamed Willy.
  • In 2014 he was named of of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
  • He was born in Indianapolis in 1977 and still lives there with his wife and two children.
  • He faced bullying at school. 
  • His books have been published in more than 12 languages.
  • Growing up he wanted to be an author.
  • John explores the English language in all his books using words such as myriad, perpetuity.
  • The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing by MT Anderson, is perhaps his all-time favourite book
  • He has previously admitted to writing fan fiction and publishing it online (although he will not divulge his pen name).

Books

Reserve John Green titles through the library catalogue and collect from your local library. If you are already a member use your existing membership card. If not, join online.

  1. Search for John Green titles in the library catalogue.
  2. Click on item (book, CD, DVD, magazine, audiobook etc).
  3. Place reservation with your library member number and password.
  4. Select pick up library location.
  5. Click continue.
  6. Item is now reserved – hooray! 
  7. Libraries will alert you when item is ready for collection.

  3. Enter the title of the book and tap the search icon.
  4. When you have found the title you want to borrow “View Availability” to see if the book is available and to identify which app the eBook is located in.
  5. Go to the eBook app on your device (e.g. ePlatform by Wheelers, RBDigital or Libby by Overdrive), search for the item, borrow and download.
