Promoting children's reading is at the heart of the initial project offered by new Sunshine Coast theatre business, LittleBigWorld Puppet Company. Performing at the Storytellers’ Festival will be the first of many future projects by local arts practitioner, Catherine O'Neill. I was a puppeteer for 12 years during my twenties in England and loved every minute. Libraries are amazing places and I am very excited to be encouraging children to read, to be read to and to promote the children's section of the library which can be a most fascinating place in a child's world.
The Owl and The Pussycat production has been developed to fire audience imagination in literacy and in creativity. All puppets and props are made from recyclable materials, including parts of old books and together with Edward Lear's romantic seafaring poem the play should encourage children to fall in love with reading.
