Patty Beecham

I have always written and since retiring, have recently published my first poetry collection: The Poetry of Patty Beecham, The Light Between Breath. I’ve had articles published in The Courier Mail, Qantas inflight magazines, Crikey.com, and have won international poetry awards and the Bruce Dawe Poetry Award in Prism. My second collection of poetry: These Days I live in Brissy, will be launched at the Storytellers' Festival 2022, as well as a sneak peek at my Memoir: Growing Up, Rocky, which will be officially launched in Rockhampton 1st November 2022. I enjoy writing children’s books, travel and wine in that order.

These Days I live in Brissy

This collection of poetry follows the writer over her 40-year journey, from life as a single girl living in Newcastle, through to her experiences: marriage, children, and grandchild, life and loss, as she travels around Australia, following the landscape of place, listening to country.

Growing Up, Rocky

Conceived on an aboriginal mission in Cape York, growing up in the ancient Anglican Rectory of St Barnabas in Rockhampton, a shocking series of family tragedies sees Patty bringing herself up from the age of twelve, often with hilarious and disastrous results. Share her true adventures in this gentle, humorous and insightful memoir.
