Foster a lifelong love of reading
Development of literacy skills begins at birth and continues throughout childhood and beyond. The aim of this session is to empower parents/carers and educators to take an active role in encouraging literacy development. It is less a talk about the mechanics of reading and more a talk about fostering a lifelong love of reading and language and the vital role of the parent and educator in this.
Award-winning teacher-librarian and author of Raising Readers Megan Daley answers questions including:
- How to a raise a reader
- The importance of reading aloud
- Reading habits and how to build them into your life
- The early years of school literacy demystified
- How you can best support literacy development at home
