Liz Pichon
“I can honestly say I feel like I have the best job in the world!” – Liz Pichon.

Liz Pichon is probably the most famous author you have never heard of. If her name is not familiar to you, the name of her beloved character Tom Gates might be. Liz’s best-selling Tom Gates series has been translated into 43 languages and has sold over 5 million copies around the world.

Liz has always loved drawing and when she was younger she would copy characters from books and comics. She went on to study graphic design at the Camberwell School of Art in London before designing record covers for bands and illustrating books for other people.

One day she had a brainwave and realised maybe she could write and illustrate her own books, rather than just working on other peoples’. Since then she has written and illustrated a number of picture books and, of course, all the books in the Tom Gates series! Liz is married with three children and lives in Brighton, UK.
