Carol Thompson

At five years of age, apparently with lots of persistence, my mum sat me down at a sewing machine and off I went! I remember making a nightie. Ever since, I have never been without two sewing machines in my life.

My first project at ten years of age, was learning how to embroider a tablecloth with my mum. Then my Aunty Muriel taught me knitting and crochet. All of this kept me busy for many years. It wasn’t until I retired that I picked up a paintbrush and pallet knife, once again learning more techniques. I also stumbled across Wearable Art and of course, off I went for a few years entering that. It was a very exciting time for me.

My next adventure – mosaics.  So, I then combined mosaics and wearable art together, creating a mosaic dress. I am now 66years of age and my mosaic sculpture – “Jules”, is my first piece I have made since having two years off with Breast Cancer. In the future, I hope to work with glass.

Faye Robbins

Hello, my name is Faye Robbins and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. I am a mixed-media artist and every piece that I create, begins with gathering of discarded treasures to form a palette that I then use to decorate a handmade or recycled substrate. My art is a gift that I can share with everyone.
