Christine Hopkins

"Art is part of your soul, it pushes you, challenges you, it lifts you. It is an ongoing journey".

Art can pull you in many different directions, and for the last 30 months, the subject matter of light and shadows, of trees and the interplay of shapes and colour have dominated her artistic journey. Sometimes she counterbalances this with fun, colourful paintings of animals, particularly cows!

Christine works primarily in acrylics and occasionally mixed media, using vibrant and high key colours to explore and exaggerate the elements of light and shadows of various subjects. Some describe her work as expressionistic or fauvist, but she primarily would describe it as contemporary realism.

Christine has held two solo exhibitions, as well as joint exhibitions, plus many group exhibitions. Furthermore, she was also a finalist in the 2021 Sunshine Coast Local Artist, Local Content exhibition at Caloundra Art Gallery. Christine has also received six Highly Commended awards in exhibitions as well as having work in private collections in the UK and USA.
