Children's Book Week

Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. October 17 – 23

Since 1945 The Children’s Book Council of Australia has been bringing children and books together across the country for one big, fun week of celebration. Every library and school across Australia have dress up days, read books and enjoy the wonderful world of children’s literature!

In 1946 the CBCA established an annual book award to promote children's books of high literary and artistic quality. These awards are now the most influential and highly respected in Australia. 

Check out the shortlisted titles for 2020.

Competition time

Thanks to the Beerwah, Coolum, Kawana and Maleny Friends of the Library we have four prize packs of Shortlisted titles to give away in celebration. Each pack contains three titles from the CBCA Shortlist.

  • Pack 1 :Book of the year – Older readers (ages 13 – 18)
  • Pack 2: Book of the year – Younger readers (ages 7-12)
  • Pack 3: Book of the year – Early childhood (ages 0-6)
  • Pack 4: Picture book of the year (ages 0-18)
  • Pack 5: Eve Pownall Award – Nonfiction (ages 0 – 18)

Simply fill out the entry form, include your favourite children’s book and tick which pack you would like to win.

Competition opens Monday 12 October and closes on Friday 30 October. Winners announced Wednesday 4 November.
