Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton

Andy Griffiths is one of Australia's most popular children's authors. Terry Denton is one of Australia's most popular children's illustrators. Together, they have collaborated on more than 30 bestselling books since their first title, Just Tricking.

In Australia, Andy and Terry's books have sold over 10 million copies, won 80 children's choice awards and 10 Australian Book Industry Awards. Their much-loved Treehouse Series is loved by kids around the world and is now published in more than 35 countries. Five of the books in the series have been adapted for the stage and have all had sell-out seasons at the Sydney Opera house, as well as highly successful seasons in the Netherlands, New Zealand and America.

  • Andy used to be in a punk band.
  • He was once an English teacher.
  • Andy is a big fan of Dr. Seuss and of cauliflower.  
  • He used to have a crazy dog called Sooty.
  • Andy keeps an exercise book and each day writes down one memory or thought or observation or dream or line from a book he is reading.  
  • He was awarded the Dromkeen Medal in 2015 to honour his outstanding contribution to Australian children's literature.  
  • Andy’s favourite colours include blue, purple, yellow, green, orange and black. And red.

  • Terry has written and illustrated more than 30 of his own books.  
  • He studied architecture, but realized it was not for him.  
  • There are rumours Terry tried his hand at horse whispering, iceberg building and pterodactyl counselling but these are unconfirmed.  
  • Terry worked for the children's TV show Lift-Off.  
  • He won the CBC Picture Book of the Year Award in 1986.  
  • Terry’s Gasp! Series was adapted into an animated TV series.  
  • Terry is older than Andy (by only a smidge) 
  • He once ran a music shop with a friend.  
  • Terry has an adventurous and inventive drawing style and an informed flair for what interests and amuses kids.

Reserve Andy and Terry titles through the library catalogue and collect from your local library. If you are already a member use your existing membership card. If you are not, join online.

  1. Search for Andy and Terry titles in the library catalogue.
  2. Click on item (book, CD, DVD, magazine, audiobook etc).
  3. Place reservation with your library card number and password.
  4. Select pick up library location.
  5. Click continue.
  6. Item is now reserved – hooray!
