Genealogy and Family History
Sunshine Coast Libraries offers a special service for those people trying to trace their family history. Not only are we lucky enough to have access to some of the best resources and databases, the library also has experienced genealogists who can help you with your detective work.
Genealogical collection
The Family History research collections of Sunshine Coast Libraries are located at Caloundra, Maroochydore, Noosa and Nambour Libraries. Collections includes a substantial number of primary records and indexes on CD-ROM, microfiche and microfilm, including:
- Birth, death and marriage indexes for all Australian states;
- Shipping records and indexes;
- Convict indents;
- Monumental inscriptions;
- Land records;
- Probate indexes;
- Post office directories.
While the primary emphasis is on Australian records, some overseas data is collected, mainly on CD-ROM.
